ScriptFodder Sellers and VAT

That moment when you make a shit joke about that French guy leaking and he turns out he does be leaking
I'm just saying, prove some damn proof it's him, not just a name.

I'm sure Marcus or Matt will extend it until 31st.
It doesn't matter what you do. People with active subscriptions don't pay commission until the subscription runs out

You have to wait for that? 🤔
(I didn't read the last few pages)
You will have to put higher prices for your scripts. All of you. How do you think businesses do? They include the taxes in the price.
Since the beginning of this website I'm lurking around and all I see is way too low prices. Yes, this is a website with digital goods that is mostly for childrens, but you have to step up your prices. If they don't purchase your content, then your content is bad. Make something else. You have to find what would be interesting to have for your customers.
What would you rather have: [1 item / week = 15€] or [5 items / week = 10€] ? I believe these taxes will allow users to buy superior quality contents.

To pinpoint your flawed logic, I'll break it down for you.

No? We'll be getting the same money as before, it's that customers will have to pay more - in fact, reducing prices now by a bit could work wonders.
Since the beginning of this website I'm lurking around and all I see is way too low prices.
And how much money have you spent on these addons? Because considering there are people who spent 1500$+ who talked about prices being TOO HIGH, I don't think we should take your word for granted.
Yes, this is a website with digital goods that is mostly for childrens, but you have to step up your prices.
You what?
If they don't purchase your content, then your content is bad. Make something else.
Or they won't purchase it because it's an overpriced shit that otherwise would sell and be a handy tool at low cost?
What would you rather have: [1 item / week = 15€] or [5 items / week = 10€] ?
I'd trade both of these for one day without people who lack experience telling other people what to do.
I believe these taxes will allow users to buy superior quality contents.
Thinking that TAXES will help in anything is like standing on a bucket and thinking you'll go up if you pull the handle strong enough.
ByNethat 26th of July 2016 18:12:17To pinpoint your flawed logic, I'll break it down for you.
Alright, so you're saying some bullshit without proving anything there.
No? We'll be getting the same money as before, it's that customers will have to pay more...
So you'll let your script go from 9$ to ~11$? Do you even know what kind of impact this have? Especially if it cost 9.99$. There's a reason why it's 9.99 and not 10$.
... in fact, reducing prices now by a bit could work wonders.
Reducing your prices would mean working more to earn the same amount as before. To which point would you enjoy working more? Even if you're a student who want to sell some litle scripts to make some money, it's not worth it. For most of the content creators, working at mcdonalds two months could make them earn more than one year of making scripts here. Hell, even working two days a week would make more money.
For bigger developers, it is another story.
And how much money have you spent on these addons? Because considering there are people who spent 1500$+ who talked about prices being TOO HIGH, I don't think we should take your word for granted.
Can you prove it? Kids are kids. They can say anything they want, I won't believe them without any proof; like you. They talked about prices being too high? You don't get it. They'll always say it's too high. By the way, if they can spend 1500$ on scripts, the prices aren't too high. Try to understand why.
You what?
Alright, sorry for this one. I meant to say: Even if you sell to kids, your prices shouldn't be impacted. LEGOs cost a lot even if it's for kids. See what I mean? Don't go and say "yeah but only their parents can buy it!" because where do you think most of your customers get their money from?
Or they won't purchase it because it's an overpriced shit that otherwise would sell and be a handy tool at low cost?
You counter-argument yourself by saying "overpriced shit". If it's OVERpriced shit, it means it wasn't worth making it. You can still sell your "shit" at low price, but it won't be profitable as selling better content at higher price. See investors. Your handy tool isn't worth it if no one wants to buy it for such price. Make a pack of handy tools, maybe?
I'd trade both of these for one day without people who lack experience telling other people what to do.
You don't know me, I don't know you. Saying this kind of things really makes me wonder why am I replying to your idiotic answer.
Thinking that TAXES will help in anything is like standing on a bucket and thinking you'll go up if you pull the handle strong enough.
Yeah right, because in real life the taxes are made just to rip off people. You clearly don't know what you're talking about. If there is taxes, content creators will think twice before putting low quality content on this website as it won't as profitable as spending a bit more time making something greater. If you put a higher price, you'll be able to invest in, let's say, sounds, models, etc. for future projects. Which will by itself makes higher quality content because these sounds and models would be made by professionals.

VAT = Value Added Tax. It's added onto the item price. No VAT is ever hidden in the price, that's not how it works.

Ok. Thought you'd put your product at 12.5$ so it'd sell at 15$ with a 20% VAT. (So it wouldn't cost more than 15$) That's what I meant by "including". Sorry about that.

I mean, you use steam, and you probably bought something with steam, and guess who taxes you from buying on their site?? Steam, they tax almost everyone (can't vouch for other countries) with at least 4-7% of what you're buying which usually adds .80 cents to your price (my math is shit).
Anyways it keeps selling on the site legal, along with beneficial for the developers themselves, hard to understand at first but I personally enjoy VAT more cause:
- I'm not paying a $15 subscription anymore
- I'm not losing as much as I would paying the subscription
- My purchases and people that have purchased from me are legal
Point being: they're not gonna stop using VAT no matter how much bitching that you uproar, VAT keeps purchases legal and they benefit the developer who's obviously trying to make money if they show their effort and what not into their script, that's just how marketing works.

Well, I see what you want to tell. In reality, the price isn't changed how most would think it'd be. They don't reduce their price to make it low enough for you (in most cases), they raise it so they get their minimum profit.
Example: Imagine a 30% tax. EA makes a video game and want to EARN at least 42€ for each copy sold. With the taxes, it'd cost 42 + 18 = 60€. Do you think they'll sell it 50€ instead of 60€ so more people can buy it? Nope, they game is going to cost 60€. They want their money.
But then, if VAT means "I get my 60€ game but in the cart I have to pay 30% more" then I don't know.
All in all, this is quite different from here. I first said that you guys should be selling at a higher price because lots of the scripts sold are worth way more than 10$. Don't let the kids lower your prices because they say "it's too much! I'd buy it only if it wasn't that price!". You are investing your time on making great content; sell it at a good price. Look Apple; they sell their iphone at a very high price, but people still buy it. Such price allows them to do more for further projects.

Your standard VAT taxes range mainly from 20% in France, now 20% + $5 (USD) is equal to $6. Most you're paying is a dollar or more than the scripts' original price for 20% VAT tax.
Honestly just look up the VAT standards in your area, calculate the % by what the script is worth (I used $5 as an example for average scripts) and be done. 20% would mainly get you around a dollar more than what you're paying for which I've already stated, it's not like you're paying $20 more than the original price.
Estimate of what I mean is: You're only paying about $1 more for single digit prices, now double digit prices are about ~2-3$ more.
When will these changes take affect and is it worth purchasing dev subscription now?

You have literally no idea how economics and market works.I'm quite sure you are like 15, trying to sound bright and such - but you lack basic logic.
Haha alright, you sure know more than me by saying I'm stupid and explaining & proving nothing at all. I don't need the approval of someone that makes so many prejudices. Look at the other comments. They responded way better than you. You gotta work on your social skills, boy. By the way, I'm 21.
I won't respond to you anymore :)
