Under 18 Paypal account closures

I tried convincing them that this account belonged to my old man and when I turned 18, he gave me the login and I changed the details etc... but they weren't having any of it
That didn't work because you need to give them notice before he gives you the account. If you've got a PP account in someone else's name and you're looking to move it to your own name you have two choices.
You can call them up, and request an account closure, and re-create the account after it's been closed in the right name.
Alternatively, you can call them up and tell them you're the account holder and wish to transfer it to X. (You being X in this situation) They'll request documents and shit to prove your identity if you want to change the account holder.
Also, note PayPal are pretty hardcore when it comes to preventing banned users using their site again. They use so many methods to re-identify you like IP, Geo-location and partial name matching, IPN URL, Credit/Debit Card numbers, obviously your email, but they'll even cross-reference your email partially. They have an academic research team dedicated to it, so you're really best playing it super safe and using one of the above-mentioned methods before you get banned.
I've had one closed because I wasn't eighteen, so I created another one a week before my eighteenth birthday, so most probably mine will get shut down again because I wasn't eighteen, made another just in-case, can easily transfer money if it gets closed.
Most of the costumers we have problems with are less than 18, this is one of the reasons you're not supposed to pay things with paypal if you're less than 18.

That's good to know, at least we can be sure chargebackers are not coming back.
I created my account around the same time, when I was 15 years old, completely under my name etc. Got my PayPal limited when I was around 16, and now that I'm 18 I sent in my Birth Certificate and bam, everything is working perfectly. All worked quite well for me :o
Already had to switch accounts once since I reached the limit on my old account, I turn 18 in a week so I'll be good soon tho

They'll probably link your two accounts together, see you evading limits and close both down as you're only allowed 1 personal/1 business.
I opened my paypal account when I was 16. I registered it as a premium account when I was 18. A few years later, I went through the process get a business account. After locking my account for a similar reason, I had to re-submitting my identity information. The process time to register a business is 45 days. On day 28, I was fed up waiting since my account was unable to send or withdraw any finances to pay for my own servers. I gave them a call and immediately I was able to talk to an employee who reviewed and unlocked my account so I could for the remaining period operate my account. All it took was a phone call. Whenever I've had an issue since that day, I've always called them and problems are always resolved immediately after calling.
My suggestion to anyone who feels they are being screwed by paypal with unreasonable waiting periods, chargebacks lockdowns or whatnot is to give them a call and explain to them the nature of the issue. They give priority service to business account holders and are able to speed up processing, unlock account features under special circumstances.
If you have a history of trading via paypal prior to locking your account, be sure to remind them and say you are doing everything in your power to meet the expectations of paypal and them not trying to help you is turning away a potential long life customer.

Business or not, it still requires details ~ if not they'll ask for it sooner or later.Don't be fooled into thinking you've hit the safe mark yet as they will bite you in the ass. Only thing I can recommend is just giving your parents details in and make one when you're of the right age otherwise they will suspend you sooner or later.
When I decided to upload something on gmodstore, I was 17, that is why I made my mothers paypal account with her name and everything. Even dou she doesn't speak english, it worked for me so far - Now I am 18 and I am still using her PayPal account. When I got charge backed, I ofcourse had to call paypal - but I said that I wasn't the holder of the account, I am just authorized to use it - upon saying that they are asking the account name holder on a phone, I tell them she doesn't speak English, so they were like "ah just few basic stuff" - They ask last 4 digits of VISA card, name, and at the end they have required "Are you authorizing the person who called us to speak on your behalf" and I literally passed the answers over to her as they asked her, they might even hear me in the background, but as far as the legal stuff (required by them) is done, which are those questions, they just go along with speaking with me, and I even got chargeback fee reversed from me and everything. So that is how I flew under the radar.
Through 6 months I had two PayPal accounts. The first one was named on me, I received about £400 on it and it was restricted, still got £160 but haven't uploaded documentation yet. Second one was detailed on my father's name & last name, received around £1900 on it and still haven't been restricted or anything through 6 months.
As long as the account is on your own name and you're under 18, your parents can contact support and they can send the money to your bank as long as you confirm it in the call and upload documentation to PayPal of yourself, bank documentation etc.
I've developed a really great way to deal with paypal. Just don't use it, and use other providers like stripe or even bitcoin. I really want more consumers to start using bitcoin to handle transactions to protect myself from chargebacks and account limitations. Its a shame that the majority of people have not caught onto using it more yet.

Hello. So I've made this thread due to an issue thats going on with Paypal. Just today I've had my Paypal account closed due to it breaking the TOS of Paypal's age sign up requirement. Now although I'm 19, I had to send them some documents to finish the completion of my business account setup and whilst doing that, they came to the conclusion that my account was made when I was 15. Now the issue here is I didn't realise they had this system since I thought everyone does this anyway. I tried convincing them that this account belonged to my old man and when I turned 18, he gave me the login and I changed the details etc... but they weren't having any of itFrom what I've seen, I think this is only a UK related issue since a lot of reddit users are posting the same issue. So if you are found to be using an account you've made when you were under 18, below is what their restrictions are:This essentially is the same as basically closing your account since you can't recieve or send money, so in theory its pretty much useless at this point. The funny thing is my last call to PP was about removing my linked cards from the old (now closed account), and they stated that they do have the ability to close/ban or reinstate my account but they can't do it due to company policy, so unless you know someone who works at PP really well, theres no chance of getting your account unblocked. If this is an old issue then this can be ignored but this has been sparking up recently with the UK community, so just a heads up, if you were under 18 when you made your paypal account, there is a possiblitly that PP may investigate your account if you try to setup a business account.
This is why i never keep my cards registered to any account i just add them when im buying something so i can avoid having to report my card lost to get a new 16 digit
