ScriptFodder Sellers and VAT

#41

Just want to thank Matt and Marcuz for their hard work. They've come up with some great ways to keep the developers and customers happy while operating under all the laws that exist for marketplaces like ours.

While this change may take some getting used to it is required regardless, and both Matt and Marcuz have managed to create a way that is the best possible option IMO.

Where digital services are supplied on a business to consumer basis, the supplier is responsible for accounting for VAT on the supply: *)to the tax authority *) at the VAT rate applicable ... in the consumer鈥檚 EU member state.

Already asked on FP, but here's it again.

Now, as a Hungarian registered company, I am in a special taxing method, called "Micro-companies' itemized tax", (aka. KATA), where I am not suitable for tax refunds, but I do not have to pay VAT either. EU law change says I am responsible to handle this towards my own government, so technically, I have to mark my sales as a company even without VAT included but I need to supply a specific text on the bill saying it does not contain any VAT.

** How'll that work for me then?**

You're not the one paying VAT, your customers should be if they are from countries where they must.

So you will pay 1.19 * Cost of the script.

A tax that all buyers will pay. If in Germany, your tax is set on 19%, buyers will pay the price of the addon plus 19% of the price for the tax (VAT). If monthly developer subscription will be deleted, this is just very good for sellers :-D.

EDIT : Very good, eh.... That depens. If a seller sells his script 100 times in a month, Scriptfodder will takes, for example, 1 dollar per purchase so Scriptfodder will have 100 dollars per month? So, sellers are fucked, no?

5-10%, not 1$ per transaction

Sellers will lose precisely 5 to 10% based on how many sales they make.

no

So they will take the money until we have the normal amount of money needed for the developer subscription month, so around $15?

@Neth yeah but if your script is on sale for 20$ and they take 1$...

Read my post - you'll always be charged these flat percentages, if you are a new developer this will be very good for you as at first you'll be paying 1-2$ a month.

@Edit - even if so, 19$ (minus paypal fees etc.) goes to you.

Oh ok, thanks mate! I hope real big developers will have benefits too and more developers will try to come without saying "this is too expansive" :-D
