ScriptFodder Sellers and VAT
-snip-
I know its already been discussed and im fine with the whole VAT thing but can there not be an option to still use a dev sub instead, just maybe raise the price a little. I know sellers like freeman, even if only 5 percent would be paying an extraordinary amount more than he already does which is unfair, and so will alot of other devs. Maybe keep the option for the dev sub but make it more expensive which gives people starting out a chance to use the percent, but people who made more money could get a subscription and you still make more money, That way the other 50% of us who does not want to use the percent does not have to and everybody wins?

pls no baguette. And tell your crossiont brothers to stop leaking scriptfodders scripts thnkx
and stop being so toxic, he asked a legit question. Don't discriminate him just because he's French.
II_PYRO_II, I personally do not leak . I am $ 360 + purchase of scripts on SF . And , many French are customer SF ... People who leak are just stupid and solutions are found against their sites ... But, I do not know more ..

what I said before was meant to be taken as a joke but it wasent funny so I'm sorry for that. And anyone can leak it's just usually most of the times 12yo's or faggots trying to ruin the site. It does take the piss to those developers and SF admins/owner because they gotta deal with this shit everyday but anyways

The Paypal fee is split across all receivers, and taking $1 off a $1 addon would leave the creator with $0. It needs to be a percentage. There's no other way. Here's how it'll work, let's say an addon costs$5:VAT is added onto the $5based on the buyer's location. If the country has 20% VAT,that would make the price $6SF takes 5%-10% of the original $5SF also takes the $1 VAT, so we can pay this to the local government of the buyer for you.We are required to do this.
My understanding is that this middle part, the 5-10%, is only a handling fee (please correct me if I'm wrong in this assumption). Why isn't it possible any other way? The way you've explained it, the percentage is just another form of the previous $15. I get that you want more money now since you have to handle VAT, but why can't you just raise the monthly payment. Or set up a tier system, where you pay for the number of sales. e.g. if I sell 50 copies of my sales I pay $10, if I sell 100 copies I pay $20.
I just don't see why the price of the addon should factor in to the handling fee. Even with this percentage balancing thing, it's going to affect larger sellers disproportionately. If I sell 50 copies of a $20 script, SF gets $50 (assuming 5%). If I sell 50 copies of a $2 script, SF gets $10 (assuming 10%).
Perhaps handling fee was the wrong term. It's our cut. We take 5-10% so we can stay in business, handle the running of the site and make a little bit of profit. The majority of digital marketplaces take at the very least a 30% cut, so I really don't think it's an unreasonable rate to ask for, I know it's a little bit of a change from the monthly subscriptions but for the majority of sellers this system is better and removes the 'investment risk' completely.

I'd hardly call 10 pounds an investment risk, plus it kinda helps to keep script fodder from being spammed with script entries, if anyone can submit then the mods will have a lot more work to do. Im not saying its a bad idea but I feel there should still be something to stop the script spam.
I hope you realize we get spammed with awful scripts anyway, so that won't change at all.
People will sign up just to submit something they found for free on FacePunch, and that's with the $15 dev sub.
My apologies, but does any of this effect the "Jobs" section?

You should only be in the Developer usergroup if you have a script up that is selling. That way you can control the flow of people viewing The Creative Corner.
It's already like this, I already thought about this.

You have never needed a dev sub to submit script. We have always been spammed with crap.
How do you want to get the buyers location? With PayPal would be a bit difficult to show guests the correct prices and with IP would cause, that everyone will use a non-eu proxy. I'm wondering how this should work.

We detect it based on what country CloudFlare tells us you're from, so a proxy is an issue. But there's not reliable way of doing this unless we literally ban proxy access to SF- Even that wouldn't be very good.
The only other way of doing it would be to charge everyone VAT by default and manually set the VAT rate of anyone who contacts us, but that would cause a fuck ton of people to contact us with such requests, which we don't want either. <- So we're definitely not doing this.

Most digital markets that charge 30% have a visitor count of millions, and the products have a much higher price margin, so they can get away with it.
Also, you're not going to "make a little bit of profit" you're going to make thousand of more dollars a month. A website server has very little overhead costs. Any software company has little to no overhead,** you don't even have a marketing expense!** You could literally run scriptfodder with $100 a month!
You're branding this system as if its better for the developer, its actually worse ( any developer that has over a few sales ) I am going to paying now about** 5x the amount I paid before with monthly for scriptfodder alone** ( not counting the already demanding paypal that takes 30 cents + 2.9% on a 2.99 addon ( 10% ) on top of your percentage )
Also your staff will now see a huge increase in work load ( which will increase the already high wait time for an addon to be approved ) because now anyone can now post a addon, I hope you're paying them with all this new profit you're going to make.
Its your choice, and there are no other alternatives so I am stuck regardless what you do, but please please please please please don't try to mask whats the reality behind your action.

I doubt you are in the lowest seller stage, then you are paying 5% - which I bet for you is roughly 1.75-2.25 times more for dev sub than previously.
Also I hope you do realize, that people below a certain amount will be paying 10-12$ less, so effectively while they get 20-40$ more from us, they lose 5-10$ from everyone else.

That way you can still lie, just like you can lie by using a proxy with our system.

We can calculate the percentage at the 1st of every month based on last months profits, and make it estimate as close to $15, $20 or $30 as possible. You gotta remember we are dealing with the legal procedures behind VAT for you. So anything you are left with is 100% yours to keep, yes you still have to pay taxes, but right now without a VAT number every sale you make is illegal.

Thanks for clearing it up.
Could we have some sort of 'trusted seller' icon that distinguishes new devs from more trusted devs based on sales and ratings? IE 300 sales with at least 4.0 average rating or something.
